
Overview:
The Hospice Biller is responsible for accurate and timely preparation, submission, and follow-up of hospice claims to Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurance companies. This role ensures compliance with billing regulations while supporting the financial health of the hospice organization.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare, review, and submit electronic and paper claims for hospice services.
Verify patient insurance eligibility and coverage.
Reconcile remittance advice and resolve denied or rejected claims.
Monitor accounts receivable, follow up on unpaid claims, and manage collections.
Ensure compliance with CMS (Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services) billing requirements.
Maintain patient billing records in the EMR and billing systems.
Communicate with insurance carriers, patients, and families regarding billing issues.
Collaborate with clinical and administrative staff to resolve documentation discrepancies.
Generate financial and billing reports as requested by management.
Qualifications:
Knowledge of hospice billing regulations, Medicare/Medicaid guidelines, and HIPAA compliance.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Proficiency with billing software, EMR systems, and Microsoft Office Suite. (HomeCare/HomeBase)
